Join the Gateway Hub Foodbank Team! At the Gateway Hub in Fishersgate, we believe in neighbours helping neighbours. No judgement, no barriers, no shame – just a community coming together to support each other through whatever life throws our way. Whether it\'s food insecurity, fuel poverty, housing struggles or health and well-being, we stand side by side to make things a little easier – and a little kinder. We\'re looking for two kind, calm, and friendly people to join our volunteer team at the Gateway Hub in Fishersgate – a welcoming, busy little community space full of heart. You\'ll be helping out in our foodbank shop, ideally for one regular day a week (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, 11am–2pm approx). What you’ll be doing: Your day will start with a bit of light cleaning to get the space ready (think hoovering and bathrooms – nothing too intense), then it’s all hands on deck in the shop. You’ll help set up the donated food, greet and support customers, hand out food using our numbered ticket system, run the till, and generally be a calm and supportive presence. Fairness, clarity, and kindness go a long way here. Our foodbank runs a bit differently – people can come in every day if they need to, so the vibe is more like a shop and less like a one-off service. It’s all about helping people meet their daily needs with dignity. Why join us? As a volunteer, you’re not just helping others – you’re part of the community too. You’re welcome to take part in the activities and services we offer at the Hub, and while we’d love to see you regularly, the role is flexible to suit your life. We’re all about making you feel at home here. You’ll be joining a lovely team of dedicated volunteers who keep this place running with compassion and good humour. Interested? Come be part of something really special. Pop in to The Gateway Hub or AVA to learn more thegatewayhub.org
