Chair of Adur District Council Community Fund Microgrants Programme

We are absolutely delighted that the Chair of Adur District Council has chosen to nominate us as their chosen charity. In this role we will be supporting the creation of a community fund to reach a wider range of groups and projects than the Chair’s fund has previously done.

Cllr Julia Watts, Adur Chair says “It’s taken a little while to finalise the details, but it’s time to talk about the community project I have started as Chair this year. I’d like to cover the kind of touches that create community rather than just a collection of people living in the same place. Specifically I’d like to promote and fund community libraries, planters and planting areas in public places and swift boxes and wish trees. I will run a couple of events to fundraise but also donations can be made directly to Adur Voluntary Action”

Karen, AVA CEO says “At AVA we are passionate about supporting community projects, we are so pleased we can work with Julia on this and we look forward to seeing the money raised benefit local communities”.

Applications are open to constituted groups, CICs and registered charities with projects in the Adur area. The Chair specifically encourages projects that improve the environment and community education.

The fund will run as two rounds of applications – one in Autumn and one in Spring, balancing a wide enough timeframe for donations to be made throughout the year and projects not having to wait too long for an outcome on their application. A local panel of three, chaired by AVA but with two external decisions makers, will review applications and decide on funding.

Dan, AVA Fundraising Officer says “this is a really exciting project for Adur Voluntary Action to be involved in. Building on our existing position across local community infrastructure support, we are well positioned to support the Chair in expanding this fund to a wider range of groups in order to have immediate impacts in their living environments. I’m eager to see the outcome of the Chair’s ambitions”.

Donations can be made to the Adur Chair’s fund here.
