Stewards work in pairs, according to a Rota circulated four to six weeks before the beginning of each Rota period. To do one or two sessions a month each only (we have nearly 90 stewards). They may be the only staff in the Museum, which has no paid staff, so are responsible for opening and locking up ,welcoming members of the public and answering their questions.
What skills do I need?
The stewards need to be friendly and helpful, well presented and get on well with the other stewards.
One would need to have an interest in local history To be punctual and reliable and have a reasonable working knowledge of Steyning and surrounding areas.
The museum may only open if two stewards are there so punctuality is essential.
