Join Squirrel Scouts and help 4–6-year-olds discover adventure through play, fun, and friendship! Volunteer to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and make a lasting difference in young lives while having plenty of fun yourself. Wanted: Natural smilers, panic-free adapters and easy encouragers. In the Squirrels Section Team, you’ll be making our 4-6 year olds’ eyes light up with wonder on a regular basis. We’re talking get-down-to-their-eyeline talkers and ‘let’s-discover-the-World-together’ co-adventurers. Sound like you? You’ll be passing on skills for life to our youngest Section, while mentoring, making sure the environment’s safe and keeping everything behind the scenes ticking over. Never been a Scout before? Neither have the Squirrels! Trust us, it’s never too late to get involved in the fun!
What skills do I need?
- Ability to work well with young people, adapting to their needs to ensure all young people can take part - Ability to communicate and work well within a team - Ability to understand and a willingness to complete training (mostly online) provided by The Scout Association - Ability to have fun! Our young people learn best by playing, exploring and problem solving

This is an adult volunteer role (18+) - DBS check required
Free DBS check through The Scout Association. Unfortunately, we are unable to use the DBS update service if applicable at present - Disability and Access Support

We are a welcoming group of volunteers who support one another in our teams, as well as having the support of a Group Leadership Team - Training provided
Initial online training if required for this role via The Scout Association\'s membership system. Further in-person and online training is also available to develop your leadership skills, your ability to work with young people, or to learn new skills on land and on the water! - Volunteer induction

Availability Details
Our Squirrels meet on Thursday evenings (16:30-17:30), with volunteers arriving around 30 minutes before to set up, and stay briefly afterwards to tidy up
